Result of home study research: The job is not finished, the computer never turns off
According to the research done by security companies, the biggest difficulty of working from home is that the computer continues to work after working hours.
The research was prepared by Buffer, a company specializing in social media content, on the benefits and challenges of working remotely. 2,500 remote employees participated in the research shared by ESET Senior Security Specialist Tony Anscombe.
Number one challenge
According to 22 percent of the participants, the biggest difficulty is that the work does not end even if the working time is over. So the problem of not being able to shut down the computer after work. While the number two on the list was a 19 percent feeling of loneliness, the third issue that followed closely was the difficulty of collaborating with 17 percent.
The fourth biggest challenge was the distractions at home, with a rate of 10 percent. 99 percent of the participants stated that they want to continue working in this way.
Ways to achieve work balance at home
Pointing out that a very large audience at a global level is experiencing home office nowadays, Anscombe made the following recommendations in order to achieve balance:
"If possible, try to create a temporary office space inside the house. Sit in a stationary desk chair. This also creates an environment where other people in the house will respect your work.
The normal working day calendar should be maintained as much as possible.
You can go out for a short time. It will increase productivity in the given afternoon.
I stay on a single communication platform outside of the normal e-mail system and I highly recommend it. For example Slack, Zoom, Skype, or one of many other communication or chat platforms available.
Let the communication flow over the designated platform, watch your colleagues who disagree and reach them.
If you have some experienced remote workers, use it as a consultant for those who are forced into the new situation.
