Microsoft has decided on the date for Windows 10! The edge era officially started!

Microsoft made the final decision for Windows 10's internet browser. The edge era has officially started now.

Microsoft, who insisted on Internet Explorer in the Internet browser war, paid the price very heavily. Introducing the Edge browser with Windows 10, Microsoft still couldn't find what it hoped for. Leaving Google Chrome aside, lagging behind names like Opera and Firefox, Microsoft chose to switch to Chromium base as a last resort.

As you know, Chromium, the base of Google, is offered for free. Companies can take them and customize them as they wish. Since the security patches were provided by Google, Chromium was the blood that Microsoft was looking for, so companies didn't need to make a lot of effort for security.

Chromium-based Edge

The use of Chromium-based Edge, which was released in the past months, became common in a short time. It has been announced that Chromium-based Edge, which comes to iOS and Android as well as Windows 10 and macOS, will be the default browser of Windows 10 today.

With the Windows 10 May update to be released in the coming weeks, Microsoft will say goodbye to the standard Edge, and the default browser will be the Chromium-based Edge browser. This breakthrough is of great importance to Microsoft. Browser battles aside, the security of Windows 10 will be increased to this level.

As you know, due to the vulnerabilities in browsers, malware can still be transmitted to operating systems. Security will be provided by both Google and Microsoft after the Chromium-based browser becomes the default browser.

Also, since it is based on Chromium, most of the add-ons in Google Chrome's web store will be compatible with Edge. Thus, users using Edge will be able to use all popular plugins in Google Chrome stably and quickly.

Microsoft is expected to automatically change the default browser, which will close security vulnerabilities in Windows 10 with the May update. So if you have made browsers like Chrome, Firefox, or Opera as the default browser, you will need to set it up again after the update.

Once the update is available, you can select the Start button and download and install the latest version from Settings> Update & Security> Windows Update. Finally, let us state that we strongly recommend that you install the latest updates for your security.
