Attention all users! Virus threat appeared on Whatsapp

Attention all users! Virus threat appeared on Whatsapp

The virus crisis in Whatsapp, which left users unstable with the latest contract, started to pose a threat to citizens. According to the research, it was stated that the virus spread by appearing as an advertisement on Whatsapp and took control of Whatsapp.

"This malware checks any WhatsApp message notification received and spreads from the victim's phone to other users," said Lukas Stefanko, a virus program researcher who made a statement about the new Whatsapp virus. Source: Attention to all users! Virus threat appeared on Whatsapp

When the look like an advertisement for a phone brand is clicked on the link, users find themselves on a website similar to the Google Play Store website. The virus software is asking users to grant notification access.

Later, this malware starts checking Whatsapp messages over notifications to perform worm attack.

Specifically, this software, which is programmed to automatically reply to an incoming message, uses WhatsApp's quick response feature to respond to incoming messages directly from notifications.

In addition to asking for permission to read notifications, this app also requests intrusive access to run in the background and to close and open other apps.

This means the app can be used to cover other apps running on the device with its own window and steal credentials.

Also, in its current version, the malware code is only capable of sending automatic replies to WhatsApp contacts.

This means there is a feature that could potentially be expanded to other messaging apps that support Android's fast response functionality in a future update.
