APPLE INCREASED ITS GLOBAL MARKET SHARE WITH IPHONES

International Data Corporation (IDC) announced the smart phone brands that made the most shipments in the last quarter of 2020. According to the report created with data from the Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, a total of 385.9 million smartphones were shipped in the last quarter of 2020, an increase of 4.3 percent compared to 2019. 90.1 million of these smartphones consisted of Apple's iPhone models. Thus, Apple's share in the global smartphone market in the same period increased to 23.4 percent and reached the top. Apple was followed by South Korean smartphone manufacturer Samsung. Samsung shipped 73.9 million smartphones, an increase of 6.2 percent compared to 2019, and managed to dominate 19.1 percent of the global market.

DROP IS OBSERVED ON HUAWEI

Behind Samsung was Xiaomi with 11.2 percent market share and over 43 million shipments, Oppo with 8.8 percent market share and 33.8 million shipments, and Huawei with 8.4 percent market share and over 32 million shipments. In the report, especially on the Huawei side, there was a sharp decrease of 42.4 percent compared to the previous year. It is said that the US sanctions are behind this.
